Hello S-TAC Members:

The Strong-Turner Alumni Chapter is pleased to announce the success of the 2008 Black Alumni Reunion.  As president, I would like to thank each of you for supporting and participating in this grand event!  The reunion weekend brought forth lots of networking, rekindling of friendships, student recognition, lots of good food, new memberships, award recognitions, historical updates, teamwork, and lots of fun and exciting times!  The S-TAC organization has voted to do another reunion in 2014 and I do hope that you will plan to attend. 

We are always looking for alums to become active in the organization.  We also give a free S-TAC membership to ASU African American graduates for that first year.  This allows opportunities for these young people to get involved early in the organization. 

I would like to remind you of a few things, especially those of you who have completed or plan to complete a Strong-Turner Alumni Chapter membership form.

• Membership for the Strong-Turner Alumni Chapter is (currently) $20.00.
• Membership fees (once approved) will increase in September to $25.00.
• The membership year is from Homecoming to Homecoming, which means if you pay now (this membership year) your dues will be due again in September (during homecoming).
• Members can make donations to the S-TAC organization in any amount they prefer, in addition to the annual membership dues.
• Revisions are being made to the following S-TAC documents:
  1. S-TAC Strategic Plan
  2. S-TAC Constitution/By Laws
  3. S-TAC Brochure

Please review these documents and provide us with your feedback.  We do want to hear from you.

We are gearing up for our annual (2008) fundraiser and would like your financial support and participation.  This year we will be hosting a “Silent Auction” during homecoming in September.  We will have more details to share after the July business meeting.

The next two business meetings for S-TAC are scheduled for July 12 in Little Rock and September 20 in Jonesboro (2008 Homecoming).  Please make arrangements in your schedule to attend.  We will be making critical decisions about the S-TAC organization and we value your input.  Informational updates will be sent out to the membership on a regular basis.  If you are not a member and would like to become one, please email me at JckDd2@aol.com. 

 Thank you for all that you do to support our African American students, faculty and staff at ASU. 

 As your president for what will to be the past two years, I want to thank you for your support and hard work.  If asked to select words to describe my term as president, I would describe these past two years as hard-working, collaborative, controversial, exciting, and truly uplifting.  In the four years that I have served on the executive council, along with my presidential goals, these are just a few of the president’s major accomplishments.

• Provided Leadership for the 2008 Black Alumni Reunion (2008)
• Provided Face-to-Face Guidance for African-American Students/Fraternities
• Wrote the S-TAC Strategic Plan (2005) Revised, 2008
• Organized Committees for S-TAC according to Constitution (2006)
• Conducted Personal Recruitment for Committees/Committee Chairs (2006)
• Revisions of Constitution/By Laws (2008)
• Update S-TAC Brochure (2008)
• Increased Membership (2007-2008)

Once these documents have been approved, we will post them on the web-site.

A new slate of officers will be elected for the new term (January, 2009 through January 2011) in September.  Please remember to attend the 2008 Homecoming, as a paid member, in order to cast your vote.
